Interlibrary Loan

Are you looking for a book or article we don't have in our collection? We can request this item from another library through our Interlibrary Loan service.

What can be requested? We can place requests for any item but libraries owning that item may choose not to loan. Materials in a library's reference collection and loose-leaf sets are often not loaned.

What is the cost? If the item is loaned to our library, you will be asked to pay the cost set by the lending library. Generally, lending libraries charge fees ranging from $5.00-$50.00 $.

How do I start? Fill out the form below and click submit. Please submit a separate form for each item you are requesting. Please note that only those who hold a Wisconsin State Law Library card may place a request.

Provide the title of the journal or magazine in which the article appears

Provide the volume of the journal or magazine

Provide the first page or page range the article appears on


Provide a book number, serial number, or OCLC number. Caution - only provide this information if you are certain it matches the item you want


Electronic copies may be scanned copies of the printed article or may be text only copies of the article. Text only copies may not include graphics, charts, or forms which may be part of the printed article. If electronic delivery is acceptable but the format must be scanned, please answer YES and note the scanned requirement in the Additional Comments field below

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Photocopies or other reproductions can be furnished only under certain conditions, if they will be used solely for private study, scholarship, or research. Use of the reproduction for other purposes may make the user liable for copyright infringement. The Wisconsin State Law Library reserves the right to refuse a document delivery request if, in its judgment, fulfilling the request would constitute a violation of copyright law.
